Arizona Republic: “A Maricopa County Superior Court judge denied a request from the County Board of Supervisors and the County Manager’s Office to give the board final approval over special prosecutors who bring investigations before a county grand jury. In a ruling made Dec. 15 but left sealed until Tuesday, Judge Roland Steinle agreed with the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office that the request was improperly made and that the Board, or any criminal defendant, already has legal recourse in situations in which an unauthorized special prosecutor is appointed.”
