Arizona Republic:  “Former Arizona Chief Justice Ruth McGregor on Tuesday denied a request from the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office to investigate if any one person or entity encouraged other Arizona county attorneys to send letters critical of County Attorney Andrew Thomas to The Arizona Republic in December.  And she took under advisement a request by Thomas’ office to defy the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors and appoint a pair of high-profile Washington, D.C., attorneys as special prosecutors in criminal cases against Supervisors Don Stapley and Mary Rose Wilcox and against Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Gary Donahoe.  The supervisors refused to allow Thomas to hire the attorneys in October.”
