Is it best to have a separate account for each for the sake of liability?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Answer<\/strong>:\u00a0 The reason you want multiple LLCs to operate multiple businesses or own multiple real estate properties is because you don&#8217;t want all of your eggs in one basket.\u00a0 You know what happens if you drop the basket.\u00a0 You get the same result if one business or property causes a lawsuit against the LLC and there is a big judgment that exceeds the insurance &#8211; you lose all your eggs, aka businesses or properties.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A fundamental rule of LLC asset protection is that each LLC must have its own bank account into which its income is deposited and from which its expenses are paid.\u00a0 Each LLC also needs its own books.\u00a0\u00a0If you break this fundamental rule and a lawsuit is filed, a court is going to rule that because you are treating the LLCs as if there is only one LLC the court will do the same and allow all of the assets of the LLCs to be reached by a creditor of one of the LLCs.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"om_disable_all_campaigns":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[31,8,4664],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-13120","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-asset-protection","category-faqs","category-questions-people-ask"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO Premium plugin v27.7 (Yoast SEO v27.9) - https:\/\/yoast.com\/product\/yoast-seo-premium-wordpress\/ -->\n<title>How Many LLCs Should I Form?
