The president of Clate Mask told the 600+ customers at Infusioncon 2009, March 11 - 12, 2009, that the company's goal is to have over 100,000 customers in its double your sales club. I will explain Infusionsoft's automated follow up marketing software in more detail below and explain how it has revolutionized my firm's marketing, generated more clients and substantially increased our revenue. Before I get into the details, however, here are the important facts I want you to get from this review:
The primary reason I bought Infusionsoft is I have over a million visitors entering my store (that's what I call my website) every year and I'm not taking advantage of it. In the past (pre-Infusionsoft), I did not collect visitor information or market to website visitors. Infusionsoft is now collecting prospect information automatically and doing automatic follow up marketing over an extended period of time. InfusionsoftI have used Infusionsoft since October of 2007, and it has paid off big time. The software has generated a tremendous amount of additional revenue for me. I expect even more increases in future revenue as we automate more and more of my law firm's marketing. Infusionsoft is a web-based automatic marketing system. Here's how Infusionsoft describes its web-based marketing system:
Infusionsoft is a full time UNPAID automatic marketing robot that doesn't forget to send an email, letter, fax, or voice blast to a client or prospect. It also notifies your staff when they need to contact a client or prospect. It does it all automatically based on the follow up sequences you create. My First Infusionsoft Follow Up SequenceThe best way I can illustrate how Infusionsoft has and will increase my revenue is to explain my first follow up sequence. One of the primary marketing tools of Infusionsoft is called a "follow up sequence." It is a series of marketing steps that you create for a particular purpose. Pre-Infusionsoft MarketingIn the old days (pre-Infusionsoft), I did NO follow up marketing. For example, a lot of people who are interested in forming an Arizona limited liability company call or send me an email every day. pre-Infusionsoft, I talked to the prospect on the phone and then sent the prospect a marketing email message that said why they should hire me and that had a link to my online LLC formation agreement. That's it. I never contacted the prospect again. No follow up and tons of lost business. I'm too busy to follow up with prospects. I know from studying marketing guru's that if you keep you name in front of prospects then more often than not over time the prospect will become a client or customer. Unfortunately my day job of being a lawyer interferes with follow up marketing to prospects. I checked my Time Matters database on November 17, 2007, and found that I had sent and received over 1,400 email messages since March 4, 2006, the subject of which is forming an Arizona LLC. I never followed up and pursued any of these 1,400 prospects for either LLC formation services or LLC operational related legal services. I've lost a lot of business by not being able to follow up with prospects. Usually the hardest part of the sales puzzle is getting contact information from a prospect who is interested in your specific product or service. When you find that kind of prospect, you need to do follow up marketing. Now, thanks to Infusionsoft, it does the automatic follow up marketing for me. Post-Infusionsoft MarketingMy first Infusionsoft marketing follow up sequence involved creating a follow up marketing plan for people who contact me about Arizona LLCs. Here's how it works. While I am on the phone talking to somebody who is interested in forming an Arizona limited liability company, I ask the prospect if he or she would like an Adobe pdf copy of my free article called "10 Critical Facts Every LLC Owner Must Know." Almost everybody says yes. I open a new contact record in Infusionsoft and enter the prospect's name, email address and phone number. I save the new prospect information in Infusionsoft and then add the prospect to a follow up sequence called "LLC Prospect Did Not Opt In." If I get an email message from a prospect interested in forming an LLC, I do the same thing. Note I add the prospect to a did not opt in sequence. Infusionsoft is anal (and rightfully so) about sending email to people who have not opted in to receive the email. Sending spam through Infusionsoft can get you fined big time and Infusionsoft will fire an email abuser. After adding the prospect to the LLC Prospect Did Not Opt In follow up sequence Infusionsoft takes over the marketing and the magic begins. Infusionsoft automatically does the following:
Opting In and OutA very nice feature of Infusionsoft is the ability to require new prospects to double opt-in before being added to a follow up sequence. The double opt-in process greatly increases deliverability of emails and also prevents people from entering somebody else's email address into Infusionsoft's database. Every email message Infusionsoft sends contains an unsubscribe link. If the recipient of the message clicks on the opt-out link, the recipient is taken to a web page where the recipient has the option to opt out from all lists and follow up sequences or the recipient may opt-out of only some of the available lists and follow up sequences. When a Prospect Purchases a Product or ServiceYou might say what happens if a prospect purchases an LLC? Does the prospect continue to get marketing messages from me suggesting that the prospect should hire me to form an LLC? NO! When the prospect purchases the LLC from my online store using Infusionsoft's shopping basket, Infusionsoft automatically removes the LLC purchaser from the "LLC Formation Prospect" follow up sequence and adds the purchaser to another follow up sequence called "LLC Purchased from RK." Now Infusionsoft starts sending non-LLC related marketing emails to the prospect such as an email that invites the recent LLC purchaser to join my estate planning email newsletter list. One of the automatic email messages that Infusionsoft sends to people who purchase my LLC formation service contains a link that asks the person to use to check and update the person's contact information in Infusionsoft. When the person clicks on the link, the person is taken to a web page that displays the person's contact information in Infusionsoft and the person may correct any errors or add missing contact information. This is a fantastic feature. I will probably have Infusionsoft send all of my clients a please update your contact information email message every two months so we can always keep our clients' contact information current by having them update their own information for us. Infusionsoft has reduced the number of calls from new LLC purchasers. pre-Infusionsoft, new LLC purchasers frequently called me to ask questions about when various steps in the LLC formation process would occur. Now I rarely have people call because immediately on being added to the LLC Purchased from RK follow up sequence, Infusionsoft sends the new client an email message thanking the client for hiring me to form the LLC and that sets out the time table and sequence of events in the LLC formation process. Infusionsoft Creates New Marketing OpportunitiesMy website gets thousands of visitors who are interested in forming a new Arizona LLC. Pre-Infusionsoft, I was not able to capture any useful information about a visitor to my website. Post-Infusionsoft I now capture and then automatically market to LLC formation prospects who visit my website. In the first month I started using Infusionsoft, I captured the names and email addresses of 100+ people who were interested in forming an Arizona LLC. Infusionsoft captured contact information and marketed to 100+ people who were interested in or who have formed Arizona LLCs. If I can get 5%, 10% or even 20% of these prospects to become clients in the next year that will be fabulous? Those new clients will be people who in the past I would never have had any contact with or have been able to convert to clients because I did not have a follow up marketing system. Here's how I used Infusionsoft to capture the contact information for 100 prospective LLC purchasers in a single month.
The Infusionsoft Shopping CartInfusionsoft contains many features and capabilities that I have not yet used, but look forward to learning and implementing in the future. One great feature that I implemented in the middle of 2008 is the shopping cart to sell products and services on my website 24/7. I previously used a great program called "Mail Order Manager" with "Site Link." I dropped that program and converted 100% to Infusionsoft's shopping cart so I could integrate online sales into Infusionsoft's automatic follow up marketing. See the shopping cart that is our store. We create Infusionsoft actions that occur automatically when a prospect buys specific products. This feature allows for the automatic segregation of our lists. Infusionsoft knows who buys every product and service and puts purchasers into product/service specific follow up sequences that contain information and marketing appropriate for the product or service purchased. We have to program Infusionsoft to do what we want, which is one reason the program is so powerful. We create Infusionsoft systems that do what we want, when we want, to who we want. Now when a widget prospect purchases a widget online in my store, Infusionsoft will automatically remove the purchaser from the widget prospect list and add the purchaser to the widget purchased listed. This change happens automatically by virtue of the purchase so the prospect will not longer receive widget marketing information, but now gets marketing information targeted to a widget purchaser. We no longer have clients calling and asking for a $50 discount after purchasing an limited liability company and getting a marketing email that says if the buy an LLC now, they get a $50 discount. Impressions of InfusionsoftAfter using Infusionsoft since October of 2007, I know that it has helped me capture new clients that I would not have gotten pre-Infusionsoft. I also know that I will turn a great many of the prospects now being captured by Infusionsoft into paying clients in the future. By using Infusionsoft, I am now doing the following marketing tasks that I never did before:
I also know that because of Infusionsoft, I have obtained many paying clients that I would not have obtained pre-Infusionsoft. I know that my bottom line has substantially increased because of Infusionsoft. Consider the possibilities for selling my legal services to the 1,200, 2,400, 3,600 etc. LLC prospects who request my 10 Critical Facts article in the next one, two and three years, respectively. Once I get somebody to double opt-in to one of my lists, I will be marketing to that person indefinitely until the person opts-out. Infusionsoft FeaturesInfusionsoft has way too many features to describe in detail in this article, but here is a list of some of the things Infusionsoft does:
Infusion Technical SupportThe $299 I pay each month entitles me to all upgrades to the software plus unlimited phone tech support. The first year I used Infusion, I constantly called tech support because there was a lot I did not understand. Infusionsoft's tech support is great. The techs know the software and are always very helpful. I recommend that new Infusionsoft users call tech support's "how do I" line with questions about how use the software. For software glitches, Infusionsoft tech support has a separate phone line. Infusion made major changes to the look, feel and functionality of its software in 2008 that made life easier for its users. Since the change to the software, I rarely call tech support. It's also easier to find things. Online Help Learning InfusionsoftWhen I first started using Infusionsoft, it's online help was pretty much worthless. Now, however, with the new version of the software, Infusionsoft has much better online training and help. Infusionsoft has a lot of online how to videos that demonstrate Infusionsoft's features. The videos are a great way to learn how to use the software. The company also has a very active and useful message forum where Infusionsoft customers and staff can ask questions and get answers from Infusionsoft personnel, customers and certified Infusionsoft consultants. One CaveatInfusion is a wonderful program that has made a lot of money for me and will help me make more money in the future. It works. The 600+ very satisfied Infusionsoft customers who attended the two day Infusioncon 2009 conference (paid for entirely by Infusionsoft) in Scottsdale, Arizona, on March 11 - 12, 2009, with me are proof that the software works. I don't have any complaints about Infusionsoft. I love the software. However, before Infusionsoft will produce for your business, you or somebody in your business must invest a substantial amount of time to learn how to use it. It is very easy to teach your Infusionsoft users and office staff how to use the software to make more sales and do automatic follow up marketing, but the program has a high learning curve when it comes to set up, configuration and creating marketing systems.. Infusionsoft is a complex and powerful tool. It is not a program you can just "turn on" and watch as it produces money. It must be configured. Somebody has to design follow up marketing sequences and write the copy to include in emails, direct mail and your website. There are a lot of pieces to the Infusionsoft puzzle that are required to create one successful follow up sequence. If you or somebody in your business is not willing to invest the time to learn how to configure Infusionsoft and create the automated marketing plans, then Infusionsoft is probably not for you unless you are willing to hire somebody to do it for you. The amount of time necessary depends on how many automated follow up sequences you want to have and how many products and services you have. The more you have the more time it will take. Hire an Infusionsoft Certified Marketing Automation CoachIf you do not have the time, inclination or staff to configure and learn Infusionsoft and create the follow up sequences, you can hire a consultant to do it for you. Infusionsoft now has a number of independent consultants who it has awarded the designation "Certified Marketing Automation Coach." These consultants know and understand Infusionsoft and can be hired to do some or all of the set up and on-going administration of the software. If you have the money, but not the time to set up Infusionsoft from scratch, I recommend that you hire an experienced Certified Marketing Automation Coach. If you are one of the few people who can do automatic capturing of prospects and than automatically market to the prospects, you don't need Infusionsoft, but you've got to be one very tired and over worked dude or dudette. For everybody else who wants to make more money, Infusionsoft will do it automatically for you better and cheaper than any employee you could hire and its doesn't require payroll taxes, health insurance, vacation, sick days, personal time off, jury duty time off and it won't sue you.
