Bloomberg: “New Orleans federal judge lifted the six-month moratorium on deepwater drilling imposed by President Barack Obama following the largest oil spill in U.S. history. Shares of drilling services companies jumped on the news.” The judge said:
“The court is unable to divine or fathom a relationship between the findings and the immense scope of the moratorium,”
The federal judge here is clearly WRONG!!! He even mistates the Interior Department’s position: “”What seems clear is that the federal government has been pressed by what happened on the Deepwater Horizon into an otherwise sweeping confirmation that all Gulf deepwater drilling activities put us all in a universal threat of irreparable harm.” That is not the Interior Department’s position!!! Their position is: Until we can determine what went wrong and why the BP explosion and spill happened, we need to stop all drilling of this nature and issue new guidelines and standards to protect human lives and the environment. Thsi is essentially the same thing the government did when the launch rocked blew up on the launch pad and killed several astronaughts. It was only prudent to determine what happened and why and prevent it from happening again before proceeding with the assumption that “Well, this one blew up but that doesn’t mean all launch rockets will blow up, so let’s proceed with the next launch!” This federal judge is as reckless and lacking in concern for human life and the environment as the oil companies who carelessly pertmitted this disaster to happen! Safeguards should have been taken to make sure this disaster NEVER happened in a million years!!! This federal judge obviously should not be a federal judge at all and perhaps not even a state or county judge. He obviously lacks sufficient knowledge and humanity to preside of such an important case as this obviously is.
