Gilbert Rejects Proposals for 2 Medical-marijuana Dispensaries

Arizona Republic:  “Gilbert Town Council has sided with opponents of two proposed medical marijuana dispensaries and rejected a Planning Commission recommendation the two facilities be approved and sent to the state for further action.  The council on Thursday granted the appeals of several nearby residents and business owners who contended the two proposed dispensaries in the town’s northwestern part of town violated the town’s requirement that they be located a minimum 1,000 feet away from a community park.”

Gilbert Protesters Challenge Pot Dispensaries

Arizona Republic:  “The Gilbert Planning Commission on Wednesday approved permits for two proposed medical-marijuana dispensaries in the town’s northwestern corner, but not before fielding protests from several nearby residents and business owners.  Contentious discussions on marijuana-related issues lasted several hours, but by night’s end, Sonoran Star Remedies and Beleaf Inc. became the first two dispensaries to receive permits to operate in Gilbert.”

DHS Rules will Limit Gilbert Medical-marijuana Sites

Arizona Republic:  “Two groups competing to become Gilbert’s first medical-marijuana dispensary unveiled their plans to the Planning Commission this week and both could get a use-permit early next month.  Sonoran Star Remedies and Beleaf, Inc. hope to set up in Gilbert’s northwestern corridor, where most of the town’s industrial parks are. Gilbert prohibits dispensaries outside of industrial districts.”

Gilbert Sets Rules for Medical Marijuana Locations, Hours

Arizona Republic:  “As area entrepreneurs prepare to capitalize on a voter-approved initiative legalizing medical marijuana, the Gilbert Town Council approved regulations on where, when and how the pot-based businesses can operate.  Dispensaries and cultivation sites will only be allowed within industrial zoning districts in northwest Gilbert near Morrison Ranch and near Gilbert Road and the Santan Freeway.”
