Publish Your Article on KEYTLaw.com & Get New Clients

ATTORNEY WARNING:  Read the following information only if you want to get a lot of new business for your law practice.  What I am going to tell you below is not a theory.  I have used it successfully since July of 2001 to generate over 2,000 new paying clients for my sole practice.  In 2007 I obtained over 450 new clients from articles I wrote that are on KEYTLaw.com.  I am going to tell you how you too can get a lot of new clients and make more money by providing content for KEYTLaw.com.

Summary of Our Advertising Service

Articles published on www.keytlaw.com usually get very high search engine rankings.  High search engine rankings means visitors who will read the article.  Here is a summary of what we offer:

  1. You give us an article in Word, WordPerfect or HTML format that you wrote and a nonexclusive license to publish the article on our website.

  2. You tell us the key words or phrases that your readers will search.  You must use these key words or phrases several times in the article.

  3. We will search engine optimize your article and publish it on our website on a generic web page (this is our sample article web page) that shows you as the author and has prominent links at the top of the page to your resume, email address, firm information and office location plus your author bio on the bottom.  If you do not want to use our generic web page, we will publish your article on our website using your firm's standard page design for a monthly fee.

  4. We will publish your article at no charge to you, but once your key words or phrases become ranked in the top 50 Google links, we charge you a monthly advertising fee based on the ranking.

  5. You can chose a month to month advertising contract or a fixed term contract to lock in a lower monthly rate.

Within a few weeks, people who search for your key words or phrases on Google, Yahoo and MSN will see your article as one of the top search results.  Many people will clink on the link and arrive at your article on our website.  Most people will not notice or even care that the article is on our website rather than your website.  People search internet for information and do not care where they find it.

In the worst case scenario, you pay nothing, but you will probably still get some people who contact you about your article.  If your article gets a high search engine high ranking, but does not generate enough revenue to justify the monthly ad cost, then you may cancel your month to month contract and we will remove your article from our website.

Number One Reason to Put Your Article on KEYTLaw.com

A Google search for the words corporate minute service on July 13, 2006, showed 155,000,000 web pages that contained those three words and the KEYTLaw page was the 1st free page listed.  Do some Google searches for key words contained on your best web pages and see where they are ranked.  If you have a page that is not listed within the first two Google search results pages, it is unlikely that you will get many visitors to that page as a result of key word searches in search engines.  Your article published on KEYTLaw.com will probably cause the page to be listed on the first two pages of Google search results, which will produce emails and phone calls and clients.

Let me illustrate how an article on www.keytlaw.com can produce business.  On February 6, 2006, I published an article on this website on family limited partnerships called "Asset Protection & Arizona Family Limited Partnerships."  On February 14, 2006, a Google search for the words "arizona family limited partnership" resulted in 7,990,000 hits and my article was the first link.  Between March 6, 2006, and March 13, 2006, four people contacted me about forming an Arizona FLP.  High Google rankings for informative legal articles on www.keytlaw.com cause people to contact the author of the article for legal services and/or information.

KEYTLaw.com seeks articles written by attorneys in all fifty states about legal issues that interest consumers and businesses.  See our State & Federal Law Library.  If you are an attorney who has written an article or who has an idea for an article of interest to consumers and businesses, we will publish your article on our website at no cost to you (FREE!).  An informative article on KEYTLaw.com is a great way to generate A LOT of new business for the author.

Search Engine Optimization Equals Traffic

KEYTLaw.com had 93,951 visitors (not hits or page views) in March of 2006 and the traffic will increase.  Because I understand search engine optimization, many of my web pages are highly ranked by Google and other search engines.  For example, here are some Google search rankings (as of the date set forth on each report) for just a few terms found in KEYTLaw.com web pages:

Search Term

Some of our web pages have more than 3,000 visitors a month.  Many pages average over 1,000 visitors a month.  Imagine the amount of new business you could generate if you had 500, 1,000 or more people reading your article every month.

Website Statistics & Increasing Number of Visitors

KEYTLaw.com has been on the internet since the spring of 2001.  We did not start tracking visitors until November 2002.  You can see from the following table that our number of monthly visitors has climbed steadily every month.

We are implementing a new business plan that will add a large amount of additional content to KEYTLaw.com, which will substantially increase visitors to our website.  More visitors to the website means more visitors to all of its pages.

Will an Article on KEYTLaw.com Produce New Clients?

We cannot guaranty that you will get any new business from your article or that your article will have high search engine ranking.  However, the methods described in this article have worked for me.  Since starting my solo law practice in July of 2001, I have added over 1,300 new clients.  I added over 350 new clients just in 2005.  How many new clients did you generate last year?  More than ninety percent of my clients are derived from my articles on KEYTLaw.com.

Some of my best clients are clients who hired me after reading one of my articles on KEYTLaw.com.  I have represented many internet-source clients in connection with multi-million dollar transactions.

Where Will My Article Appear on KEYTLaw.com?

Attorney articles will be in our State & Federal Law Library.  Articles about state specific law will appear in an area of KEYTLaw.com for the specific state.  Articles about federal law, will appear in the federal law area of our website.  For example, articles about Arizona law are found on a web page called the "Arizona Law Articles Library."  Articles are grouped by area of law and the articles within each area of law are listed from most recent to oldest.  Articles that involve more than one area  of law will be listed in multiple areas.

When a visitor clicks on the title of your article, the visitor will be taken to your article.  Each article will appear on its own separate webpage that shows the title of the article followed by the name of the author.  See for example, "Arizona Landlord Tenant Law - Evictions" written by Norman Keyt.

How Will Visitors Know to Contact the Author?

Each article will identify the author several ways:

  1. The author's name will appear after the title of the article on the state specific page or the federal law page.

  2. The author's name will appear after the title of the article on the article's separate web page.

  3. The end of the article will be followed by the heading "About the Author" and informational text and contact information prepared by the author.  See for example the text about the author at the end of "Arizona Landlord Tenant Law - Evictions" written by Norman Keyt.

For an example of how your name and information will be displayed on your article's web page see our generic web page.  We will put whatever information you want about you and your firm on your article's web page, including links to your firm's website.

Again, see for example Norm Keyt's biography/resume on his article "Arizona Landlord Tenant Law - Evictions," which you can see by clicking on his name that appears after the title of the article.

Can an Author Have Multiple Articles on KEYTLaw.com?

Yes.  There is no limit to the number of articles any one author may display on our website.

Why Can't I Just Write an Article and Put it on My Website?

You can, but will anybody see it?  Many of you may have already done so.  If you have articles on your website that produce clients for you then you may not need KEYTLaw.com.  However, even if you are getting some business from an internet article, you could get even more if the article were on KEYTLaw.com.

The problem with most lawyers' websites is that nobody knows they exist.  A well known, but rarely acknowledged fact of the internet is "if you build it they will not come."  Having a website is one thing, but getting traffic to the site is something entirely different and beyond the knowledge of most lawyers and virtually everybody else who uses the internet.

Arizona Eviction Ranked 1st by Google

Consider the Arizona eviction lawyer who wants to get business from his article on Arizona evictions.  On February 6, 2006, I googled "Arizona eviction" and got 890,000 hits.  How does the eviction lawyer get his article to rank high enough in the rankings so that people will see his article?  They say that if a search does not cause a link to appear on the first two pages (10 links per page in Google), it is unlikely that the searcher will ever see the link and find the page.

My Google search on February 6, 2006, for the words "Arizona eviction" displayed Norm Keyt's article on evictions as the first unpaid Google link out of 890,000 other links.  If you have articles on your website, test the search engine rankings for key words in the article.  Does the article on your website have any high search engine rankings?  Will anybody ever find your web pages?

Why Are Articles on KEYTLaw.com Highly Ranked?

Most lawyers will never be able to get articles on their websites to rank high enough with search engines to be seen for two reasons:

  1. They do not understand or use search engine optimization, and

  2. Their articles are on a website that gets very little traffic and has no prospect of increasing traffic in the future.

I understand search engine optimization and will use that knowledge to attempt to cause all articles on KEYTLaw.com to be highly ranked by search engines.

Two important components in the search results ranking system algorithm used by Google and other search engines are: (i) link popularity, and (ii) the popularity of the website.  On February 6, 2006, a Google search for the term "keytlaw" showed that 11,800 web pages on the internet referred to that term.  The fact that a lot of other websites know of and link to KEYTLaw.com is one reason our web pages consistently get high Google search rankings.

Because KEYTLaw.com has a lot of visitors (the number of visitors is directly related to the popularity of the website) pages on KEYTLaw.com have high Google rankings.  This in turn causes more people to find web pages and to click through the links, which results in link popularity and high Google rankings.

What is the Cost to Publish Articles on KEYTLaw.com?

Initially, there is no cost to publish an article on KEYTLaw.com.  If your article is well written, accurate and informative, we will publish it on our website at no cost to you.  If your article never gets high Google rankings, you pay nothing.

We do charge a monthly advertising fee, however, for articles that are highly ranked by Google.  High Google rankings usually means new clients and revenue for the author.  If your article on our website produces money for you, we expect to be paid an advertising fee.  If you advertise in a newspaper or in the yellow pages, you will have to pay the going rates.  KEYTLaw.com is an advertiser that earns its revenue through ads paid for by its customers.

Advertising fees are tied directly to the Google search ranking of key words in your article as of the last business day of a month.  The higher an article's Google ranking, the higher the fee.  The following table lists the monthly charge for an article based on the Google ranking of key words in the article:

Google Key Word Search Ranking Monthly Ad Fee
Less than top 50 no charge
Top 21 - 50 $100
Top 11 - 20 $300
Top  4 - 10 $500
Top  1 -   3 $600

Why Publishing Articles on KEYTLaw.com Is a Very Cost Effective Method of Advertising

Most traditional advertising is very expensive.  For example, I pay about $450 a month for a quarter page color ad in an Arizona monthly periodical.  To get that rate, I had to commit to the ad for one year.  As far as I can tell, I may generate enough revenue from the ad to recoup my cost.

Contrast the cost of that print advertising with my costs to advertise on Yahoo.  Before the website became as popular as it is, I paid Yahoo Search Marketing (formerly Overture) an average of $300 a month for pay for click advertising that typically generated 3,000 visitors a month to KEYTLaw.com.

This type of advertising is highly targeted and very effective because the online ads appear as links when users search for key words.  I only pay for an ad when a user searches key words found in my ad then clicks on my link, which takes the user to the target page of my Yahoo pay for click ad.

The benefit of pay for click ads is that when a user does a search for key words and clicks on your link, you know the user seeks information that you have on your web page.  People who are not interested in an ad never see it, which means the advertiser does not pay for ads seen by uninterested parties.

The problem with pay for click ads is that they can be very expensive.  On February 6, 2006, the top five bidders on Yahoo Search Marketing for the key words "arizona incorporation" were paying $10.61, $7.16, $7.15, $7.00 and $3.19 for A SINGLE CLICK.  The top bidder will pay $1,061 for 100 visitors.  The number 5 bidder will pay $319 for 100 visitors.

Contrast the cost of pay for click advertising with the cost of advertising on KEYTLaw.com.  On February 6, 2006, a Google search for the key words "Arizona real estate law" resulted in the first link being a link to my Arizona Real Estate Law web page.  It is because of that high search engine ranking that 1,931 visitors saw my Arizona Real Estate Law web page during January of 2006.  Those 1,931 visitors did not cost me a cent.

If I had bid for the key words "arizona real estate law" on Yahoo Search Marketing and was one of the top three bidders paying $.99, $.58 and $.40 per click (which is what they were paying on February 6, 2006), I would have paid Yahoo $1,912, $1,120, and $772 for 1,931 visitors.  Those fees are a lot more than the $600 an author with an article on KEYTLaw.com whose key words ranked 1st on Google would have paid for 1,931 visitors.  Why advertise on a pay per click website when your highly ranked article on KEYTLaw.com might produce more visitors for substantially less money than you might pay a pay for click advertiser?

How Is the Monthly Charge Computed?

On the last business day of the month, we will run a Google search on the key words in your article.  The monthly fee for the next month will be based on the Google ranking of your key words that result in the highest ranking.  We will scan the results and put it in your file in case you want to verify the ranking, but we will not send the report to you unless you request it.  Of course, we encourage you to search Google for your key words on the last business day of each month and keep a record of the search results in your file.  If we fail to search your key words on the last day of the month, the fee for the next month will be the same as the last month for which a search was performed.

What are Key Words?

Key words are one or more words, terms or phrases in an article that articulate the theme of the article.  For example, if I am an Arizona litigator who represents plaintiffs in dog bite cases (I am not) and the purpose of my article is to produce new dog bite victims who I can represent in contingency cases, the key words in my article would be: "arizona dog law," "arizona dog bite," "arizona dog bite law," or "arizona dog statute."  On February 6, 2006, a Google search of each of these key words resulted in my article on Arizona dog bite law being ranked 1st out of 2,580,000 hits, 1,220,000 hits, 1,760,000 hits and 406,000 hits, respectively.

Who Selects the Key Words?

The author selects desired key words.  We may suggest key words.  Both parties must agree in writing on the key words applicable to an article.

Will Other Articles on KEYTLaw.com Have the Same Key Words?

No, at least not intentionally.  We will not knowingly publish an article that contains the same key words as an article that was published earlier by another author.  Although we will not intentionally allow any author to use the same key words as another author, it is possible that an article on a topic may contain key words used in another topic.  For example, if your key words are "Utah probate," we may have another article with the key words "Alaska probate."

Can Articles be Amended?

Yes.  The author can amend his or her article at any time, subject to giving us a reasonable period of time to modify the article on our website.

Can the Author Remove the Article from KEYTLaw.com?

Yes.  Unless we enter into a long term written publication agreement, all articles published on KEYTLaw.com are published on an "at will" basis, which means that the author or the publisher may remove the article at any time.  The author may request at any time that his or her article be removed from our website.  We will remove an article within a reasonable period of time after receiving the author's request.

How Does an Author Get Published on KEYTLaw.com?

The following is a list of the steps necessary to have an article published on KEYTLaw.com:

  1. The author must submit the full text of his or her article via mail or email to:  Richard Keyt, 5025 North Central, #467, Phoenix, Arizona 85012; rickkeyt@keytlaw.com.  Articles must be in Word, WordPerfect or html format with URLs embedded in any links in the article.  We will not return any articles submitted to us.

  3. Make sure the author's name, address, phone number and email address is included with an article.

  4. If we are interested in publishing your article, we will send you a License Agreement.  We will not publish an article unless the author and Webments, LLC, the owner and operator of KEYTLaw.com, enter into a written License Agreement.  Each author must grant Webments a royalty free license to display the article on KEYTLaw.com and represent and warrant that the author is the holder of the copyright to the article and has the authority to grant the license.

The terms and conditions stated above may be changed at any time without notice to the public; provided, however, notice of any changes will be given to article authors at least thirty days in advance.
